The Southern Flinders Photo Festival

This contest forms part of The Southern Flinders Ranges Photo Festival, inspired by the wealth of natural, cultural, historic and scenic values of the world renowned Flinders Ranges. Our mission is to provide a unique platform for, student, amateur, enthusiast and professional photographers, to showcase their work, share their experiences and create extraordinary photographs.

A series of carefully designed workshops, exhibitions and experiences will provide people of all ages a unique opportunity to build a lasting love of photography while creating photographs that strengthen the connection to the unique culture and landscape of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

High School workshops

Light Painting with Denis Smith – Hosted at the Spencer Gulf Uni Hub, this six hour workshop is open for all secondary students. It will provide students with all levels of photographic knowledge the skills and equipment necessary to create the iconic “ball of light” and put other light painting techniques to creative use. Denis’ passion, energy and mastery of light will ensure a fun filled day for all students  from years 8-12.

Make objects of art

Primary School workshops

Cyanotypes with Mark Zed – This six hour workshop is open for all primary school students. It will provide students with an opportunity to learn traditional photographic principles by creating our own light sensitive paper, making negatives and printing our work using the sun. This timeless process is safe, fun and inspiring.
